Caribbean Food

Explore the taste of Barbados

Barbadian cuisine, also known as Bajan cuisine, is a flavourful fusion of African, British, Caribbean, and indigenous influences.

We have selected some of our favourite restaurants for you to browse, from beachside cafes to fine dining establishments. As we explore the island further we will keep adding to this for you.

Bookings are essential at most places in Barbados so do make sure you double check, and before your trip follow them on their socials so you can work out what happens and when so you don't miss something special that they have in store!

We’ve organized the restaurants, cafés, and eateries by parish so you can easily see where each one is in relation to your accommodation.

If you have an establishment you’d like us to visit, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always excited to explore new places and continue adding fresh recommendations to our website so others can discover and enjoy them too.

St. James

St James

St. James is known for its polished yet easygoing dining scene — a mix of chic seaside restaurants, stylish rooftops, and relaxed beachside spots. Whether you’re after an elegant sunset dinner or a laid-back lunch with your feet in the sand, the west coast vibe is all about good food, ocean views, and that effortless Barbados charm.

St Peter

St. Peter

St. Peter’s dining vibe is a relaxed mix of authentic Bajan charm and breezy seaside sophistication. In Speightstown and surrounding coastal spots, you’ll find cozy beach shacks, locals’ pubs, and elegant waterfront restaurants all in the same neighborhood. Think open-air decks, sea views, and menus that lean into fresh seafood, Caribbean classics, and a few international touches. Whether you want a laid-back fish cutter by the water or a sunset dinner at a refined spot, the energy is warm, friendly, and unpretentious.

St Lucy

St. Lucy

St. Lucy offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path dining experience with a very authentic Bajan feel. The restaurants here lean into natural beauty and simplicity — think cliff-edge views, rugged north coast scenery, and laid-back settings rather than glitzy tourist traps.

St Michael

St. Michael

St. Michael isn’t really a dining hotspot for visitors, so the restaurant scene is simpler and more low-key than other parishes.  We have only visited a few places in St. Michael so recommending places is tricky, below are two places guaranteed to satisfy.

Christ Church

Christ Church

Christ Church has the liveliest and most varied dining scene on the south coast. Holidaymakers can choose from beach bars, casual cafés, seafood grills, surf-side eateries, and a handful of upscale restaurants — especially around St. Lawrence Gap and Miami Beach/Oistins. The vibe ranges from barefoot-relaxed to trendy and vibrant, with plenty of international options mixed in with classic Bajan spots. It’s the best area on the south coast for travellers who want lots of choice, atmosphere, and nightlife alongside their meals.  As we explore more of the area and try more eateries we will add them to our recommendations.

St J & St P

St. Joseph & St. Philip

We’ve only visited a handful of the restaurants scattered throughout parishes like St. Joseph and St. Philip so far, but we’re excited to explore these areas more deeply. As we discover new spots and hidden gems, we’ll keep this guide updated for you.
